Nick Firestone has been racing cars all over the world since 1984 bringing a wealth of experience to FIRESTONEKARTINFO. His background includes Off-Road racing, Opel Lotus Euroseries, British Formula 3000, Indy Lights, and the IRL. Nick was one of two drivers selected to test Firestone’s new Indy Lights oval tire in 1993 (based on having the fastest race lap in his debut in an Indy Lights car). He was also the first driver to test Reynard’s Formula 3000 sequential gearbox at Silverstone, England in 1992.
Nick has raced in two series that supported both F1 (Opel Lotus Euroseries) and IndyCar (Indy Lights). Consequently, he has raced on world famous tracks such as Spa, Long Beach, Nurburgring, Laguna Seca, Silverstone, Barcelona, Mid Ohio, Imola, Hockenheim, Magny Cours, as well as part of the famed Monaco circuit in the 2007 Monaco Kart Cup.
Perhaps most importantly, Nick is a current kart racer who does his own tuning. Nick continues to apply the testing and development techniques learned during his years of professional racing to karting. The results speak for themselves. Firestone has 10 wins, 10 Poles, 20 Podiums, and 11 Fastest Laps on 10 different tracks in 26 starts in the ProKart Challenge G1 division, none of which are his hometown track. Nick won the one and only SKUSA Winternationals G1 Championship in 2008 and has participated in seven SuperNats, reaching the podium (5th) at the 2007 SuperNats from a 12th place starting position. After switching to the Stock Honda class for 2011, Nick continued his success with two podiums (2nd & 3rd) in 5 starts, finishing 2nd overall in the 2011 SKUSA ProTour S4 division.
